All Is Fair in Love and War – Rev. Dr. Frank Balgeman #Jesus #God #love

The Sunday Morning Vlog

All Is Fair in Love and War You’ve heard that before. But is it the most ridiculous thing ever said—or one of the most profound? What do love and war actually have in common? What the world needs now is love. What we don’t need is another war. One awakens our lives, fulfills us, makes existence worth living. The other? Hell on earth. Anyone who’s fought in a war knows this—they long to be sent home, to fall into the arms of their loved one. Love and war are polar opposites. Yet they share something fundamental: fairness. But what is fairness? Here’s my definition: Fairness is the art of balancing the scales so precisely that neither side can claim the weight was rigged against them. A balancing act. Picture someone holding love in one hand and war in the other. Who did exactly that? Who held the love of the entire world in one hand while fighting the greatest battle in the history of the universe in the other? If you’ve listened to anything I’ve created, you already know the answer. On the cross, Jesus held both. Perfect love poured out. Cosmic warfare waged against sin and death. Both perfectly balanced. Both perfectly fair—in the sense that no one could claim the scales were rigged, the game’s rules apply equally to everyone. Fair is the delicate moment when justice and mercy shake hands. A loving battle to the finish, won by Christ for us all. All is just as it should be in God’s crucified love and war. I’m Frank Balgeman, the Physics Pastor from the Santa Cruz Mountains. God’s continued richest cruciform blessings.
