The Magician’s Nephew: Chapter Two Takeaway
What to share with your child:
In Chapter Two, Uncle Andrew says something haunting: “Think what another world means—you might meet anything, anything.”
Uncle Andrew knows there’s a world that can only be reached by magic. But here’s the problem: he’s afraid to go himself. His relationship with magic is unhealthy—even dark—so he sends the children instead, hoping to experience it through them.
That’s not how it works.
Your takeaway: Your relationship with God is yours alone. It’s personal, unique, one of a kind—and you must experience it for yourself. No one can do it for you. Not a proxy. Not a parent.
As your mom or dad, I can introduce you to church, the Bible, and Christian writers like C.S. Lewis. But at the end of the day, you are the one who will step through the door and experience the magic.
A Simple Example:
I can describe what chocolate tastes like all day long. I can even put it in your hand. But until you put it in your mouth, you haven’t really tasted it. Take and Eat, the Lord is delicious!
Here endeth the lesson.
