What Does the Cross Create? Rev. Dr. Frank Balgeman #Jesus #God #love

The Sunday Morning Vlog

The Simple Bible: Creation
When God creates, there is already something from which He creates. Genesis describes it as “formless and void”—a chaos filled with confusion and wasteful emptiness.
The Holy Spirit hovers over this bizarre, unannounced character, giving it His entire attention. And from out of this, everything in the universe emerges.
John’s Gospel gives voice to it: “From out of Him everything was created.” Jesus is the human being who is God—the One from whom all things come.
Here’s this lesson’s payoff: The emptiness, the waste, the confusion—this is the cross of Christ, present at the very beginning. The cross isn’t just an event on Good Friday. Before there was such a thing as an event, before time or history or cause and effect existed, there was God in His crucified condition. The Holy Spirits one and only interest.
Your takeaway: The cross is the source of all things.
A Simple Example:
Think of a mother in labor. The pain comes before the child, but the child is the reason for the pain. The cross is like that—it appears at creation’s start; it exists and places its stamp on you and the entirety of creation. The cross accomplishes God’s good pleasure. The cross creates.
Here endeth the lesson.
